Summer reading plan
Reading through the summer is important to help your child make progress.
Reading is life and all of life we will be reading. In order to become more fluent in reading a person must spend time reading. You can positively reward reading in many ways. Here is one way at home to help your child make progress and plan family fun in the process.
Think about some place your child would like to visit. It maybe a vacation destination, state park, or local hang out. Total up the miles between your house and that location. Then create a map with both places and showing the number of miles in between. Remember this can be done very simply and the destination doesn’t have to be very expensive.
Next, decide how you want to correlate the miles to books read or minutes read. Make the goal accomplishable, yet it has to include hard work.
Track your child’s progress on the map visually and talk about what the experience will be like on that day. Remember reading practice is an investment on the part of the parent. This can be fun for the entire family.
