Managing December DistractionsDecember is filled with many opportunities for your families time and attention. School is just one of those responsibilities. This is a great time to help your child learn to manage responsibilities and fun.
Have a family meeting to create a map or plan to navigate all the events of the month. Start with what is expected of each person and then move to the events that have to be attended by anyone in the family. Remember to help your children to understand the importance of finishing the next couple of weeks of school strong. Discuss this as part of their responsibilities. It is easy to let the excitement, busyness , and fun distract your kids and family during this season. Once the responsibilities and the calendar is completed the fun can begin. Ask each member of the family something they would like to do or local place they would like to go during December. Don’t forget to find an intentional way for your family to give back and serve someone. This is an important time for parents to map out the expectations of school work, social commitments, and family fun. It is easy for important things to slip through the cracks. Remember the more intentional you are the more fun you can have! |
