Invest 30 Minutes to Write with Your ChildDo you remember the game “I Spy?”
It’s time to play a game with your child that will only take about 30 minutes. It will be fun for them and strengthen their writing skills at the same time. Play three rounds of “I Spy” with your child. After the third round tell your child that you want to write a book and need their help. Have them determine what the main object of the book will be by playing “I Spy” one more time. Whatever they choose will become the main object of the book. This may take some creativity from you, but it can be so much fun. The parent will begin by writing the first two sentences of the book. Once those are written, you should continue by alternating the writing of the sentences in the book. (Child then parent, back and forth) It won’t take long and you will have written a masterpiece and created a family memory. Once the book is complete, you should write a clean copy together by continuing to alternate hand writing the sentences. Yes it requires some effort, but that’s parenting. Small pieces of time make a big differences. This is a great project for dads and sons to do together. Statistics tell us overwhelmingly how important a dad’s influence is on a child. This is big when it comes to academics. Boys need to know their father cares about their learning and not just their sports and hobbies. Have fun! Parenting requires effort and small pieces of time make a big difference! Read More... |
